Annapurna Circuit Trek

Opened to foreigners since 1977, the Annapurna Circuit Trek has been proved as one of the best trekking routes of Nepal that offers you an experience to cherish for lifetime. The trek is unique as it covers altitudes from 900m to 5416m (Throng- La Pass touching the border of Tibetan plateau) in just over 300 km where you can enjoy an unusually wide range of climatic zones from tropic to arctic in a short time.

Annapurna Circuit Trek takes you to the captivating view of Annapurna Massif (Annapurna I-IV), Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchre, Manaslu, Gangapurna and Tilicho Peak seen at close quarters. Numerous peaks of 6000-8000m in elevation rise from the Annapurna range. Annapurna Circuit Trek begins at Besisahar or BhulBhule in Marshyangdi river valley and concludes in the Kali Gandaki Gorge, the world’s deepest river gorge. It consists of four regions – Lamjung, Manang, Mustang and Myagdi passing through and crosses two different river valley.

The trail is famous for splendid forests, amazing waterfalls and majestic cliffs. One of the amazing thing about this trek is that you also get to see and rejoice cultural variety from Hindu villages at the low foothills to the Buddhist culture of Mananag Valley and lower Mustang with ethnic cultures like Gurung, Magar, Sherpa, Lama and Thakalis. Throughout the walk, you can enjoy the regular contact with friendly villagers from different ethnic groups and get dazzled by ever-changing panoramas of some of the world’s most magnificient mountain scenery up close.

This trek also follows the ancient paths used as trade routes between Nepal and Tibet. The breathtaking, majestic Himalayan scenery can mesmerize anyone at just one glance, captures you at the moment and you will forget not only all your weariness of the journey but also the stress of the modern life your living. The highest point of this trek is Throng-La pass at 5416m.For a convenient journey to cross the pass, the circuit is usually walked in a counter clockwise direction. Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

Once you arrive in Kathmandu, a representative from Leaf Holidays will greet you at the airport and accompany you to your hotel for an overnight stay in the city.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu

Today, we will take you on a guided tour of some of the most important historical and spiritual sites in Kathmandu. These sites are also UNESCO World Heritage sites. We will visit the Durbar Square, a historic site, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famous Monkey Temple (Swayambhunath), and Boudhanath, one of the largest stupas in the world. After the tour, we will stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Besisahar

After having breakfast, we will embark on a drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar. We will spend the night in Besisahar.

Day 04: Besisahar to Chame

Today, after having breakfast, we will take a drive from Besisahar to Chame. We will spend the night in Chame.

Day 05: Chame to Pisang (3,300m/10824ft): 5 – 6 hours

The trail today is steep and passes through a dense forest. The rock face rises 1500m from the river and is the steepest part of the Marshyangdi Valley. After passing through the rock face, we'll see majestic views. We'll also see Paungda Danda, a huge sloping rock face that rises over 5,000ft (1500m) above the trail. We'll trek for a while before reaching Lower Pisang, where we'll spend the night.

Day 06: Pisang to Manang: 6 – 7 hours

Today we take the route to Upper Pisang via Geru, which provides stunning views of the landscape and the impressive Annapurna and Pisang mountains. As we trek, we'll notice a significant difference in the climate and vegetation, with a colder and drier environment. We'll also visit the largest monastery in the Manang district, the Barge monastery. Finally, we'll spend the night in Manang.

Day 07: Manang: Acclimatization day

Today is a day of rest, and you can choose to go on a short hike to Bhojo Gumba or Gangapurna Lake. If you feel up to it, you can even hike to Vraga Village to visit the Himalayan Rescue Association and learn about Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Spend the night in Manang.

Day 08: Manang to Yak Kharka (4,110m/13,484ft): 4-5 hours

After leaving Manang village, we'll cross a stream and climb to the village of Tenki. From there, we'll continue to climb up the Marshyangdi Valley, turning northwest towards the valley of Jarsang Khola. The trail passes through pastures and juniper trees as we steadily gain elevation. We'll pass by the small village of Ghunsa and cross the Hook River on a wooden bridge before reaching Yak Kharka, where we'll spend the night. We'll see horses and yaks grazing in meadows and an old Mani wall in a pleasant meadow along the way.

Day 09: Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi (4,600m/15,092ft): 3 – 4 hours

We walk uphill to reach Thorong Phedi, passing Ledar Township and towering cliffs. Thorong Phedi is the last village before Thorong La pass and offers breathtaking views of mountains such as Mt. Gundang and Mt. Syagang. Phedi means the foot of a mountain in Nepalese. We spend the night here.

Day 10: Thorong Phedi to Muktinath (3,800m/12,467ft) via Thorong La passes (5416m/17764ft): 7 – 8 hours

Our main goal today is to cross the Thorong La pass, which is one of the highest passes in the world. We will be crossing the pass from east to west, which is the easiest and safest route. We start early in the morning and hike up the mountain. Once we reach the top, we can take some photos before heading down to the Muktinath Valley. We will spend the night in Muktinath.

Day 11: Muktinath to Jomsom

After having breakfast, we will travel by car to Jomsom from Muktinath. We will spend the night in Jomsom.

Day 12: Drive from Jomsom to Tatopani by Jeep

After having breakfast, we will take a jeep ride from Jomsom to Tatopani. We will spend the night in Tatopani.

Day 13: Drive from Tatopani to Ghorepani (2,850m/9,350ft): 7 – 8 hours, Trek in Ghorepani

We walk through farmland and villages to reach a beautiful rhododendron forest. When the flowers bloom, it's a sight to behold. We continue walking to Ghorepani, a charming village situated on a ridge. Overnight in Ghorepani.

Day 14: Trekking from Ghorepani to Ghandruk, Overnight in Ghorepani

We'll begin trekking from Ghorepani to Ghandruk after having breakfast in the morning. We'll spend the night in Ghandruk.

Day 15: Trekking from Ghorepani to Pokhara via Nayapul, Overnight in pokhara

Today we will begin our trek from Ghorepani to Pokhara via Nayapul after having breakfast early in the morning. We will spend the night in Pokhara.

Day 16: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu: 5-6 hours

After breakfast, we will drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu while enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way. Once we reach Kathmandu, we will have the rest of the day to relax or shop for souvenirs. In the evening, we will have a farewell dinner and discuss our trip. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 17: Final departure

Today is the day to say goodbye and depart from Nepal. Our company representative will accompany you to Tribhuvan International Airport. We hope that you had a wonderful experience in Nepal and take with you unforgettable memories.
