Luxury Everest base camp trek begins with a flight to Hillary’s Lukla airport at (2800 meters). this follows with a dreamy journey through the colorful Sherpa Village/town of Namche Bazaar [said to be the Las Vegas of the Khumbu] to Gorakshep as we plod on to the dizzy heights of Kalapathar at (5545m), this is where our emotions go on overdrive as we witness brainstorming views of Everest along with some of the greatest peaks on planet earth. The trek goes above 3000 meters into high alpine country of the Khumbu and Imja valleys; vegetation is scarce hereabouts. There is plenty of time to enjoy the natural wonders of the region, the Sherpa culture and the Buddhist monasteries. Local tea houses offer ‘Chyang’ (mountain millet beer famous especially on the Himalayas), which warm us up with its unique flavor. The multi-colored fluttering flags of Buddhism, and beautifully carved Mani stones lining the hillsides, is a wonderful sight to behold. These flags fluttering in the mountain winds whisper odes of prayers to the brave souls who lost their lives while attempting to conquer the majestic Mt. Everest.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Kathmandu airport (1400 meters).

Your wonderful journey to the amazing Himalayas starts from your flight to Kathmandu. Onto your arrival Leaf Holiday’s representatives will greet you at the Tribhuvan International Airport and escort you to the hotel for check-in and stay overnight. You will have a rest at the hotel. Day 2: Orientation and Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley.

After breakfast, you will proceed for the sightseeing in Kathmandu as Kathmandu is also known as the city of temples, including Pashupatinath temple, Mata Gujheswori temple & Budhanilkantha temple. After lunch we will have a time for final preparation for Everest base camp trek i.e. checking the equipment which you will be using during the trek. If you need to buy a few things or rent something, our staffs will assist you. Overnight at Hotel

Day 3: Fly to Lukla (2804 meters) trek to Phakding (2610 meters) 3-4 hours.

Today, we will fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2886m.). You begin today’s trek from Lukla following a gentle climb up the mountainside on the left bank of the Dudh Kosi River. Nupla (5885m) can be seen in the distance on the opposite bank, and is a peak atop the Kongde Ridge. You descend a mountainside path that merges into your route to Everest, with views to a valley to your right; and at its far end, Kusum Kang (6367m.) The Dudh Kosi approaches as you pass a Mani wall and arrive at a Ghat teahouse. You continue along a small path with many climbs and descents following the left bank of Dudh Kosi to Phakding. Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440 meters) 6 hours.

Today, we will Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440 m.) which takes about five hours. This day you trek and cross the river on high suspension bridges. Beyond Monjo (2800m.) is the entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park which was set up to protect and preserve this fragile mountain environment. You then ascend quite steeply to Namche Bazaar and along the way, if the weather is clear, catch a first glimpse of Mt Everest in the distance. You can also enjoy the view of Mt. Kusum Kangaru, Thamserku, Kongde-Ri and Tawache peak. You will also visit some of the village monasteries on the way trekking to Namche Bazaar (3440 m.). Stay overnight at Hotel

Day 5: Namche Bazaar – This is a day for Acclimatization.

On this day we rest at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization. It is an idyllic place to spend a rest day for acclimatization at a high altitude before heading off towards Tengboche. For acclimatization you walk up to Khunde Hospital which was set up by the late Sir Edmund Hillary and you can also hike for an hour up to Tengboche (3800m.) where Everest View Hotel is situated above Namche for some outstanding views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kusum Kangaru. There are also good views from the National Park Center and Museum just above the town. Stay overnight at Hotel

Day 6: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tyangboche (3867m.) reckons this takes about five hours.

As you climb from side to side the forested zone, the incline eases and fabulous views appear. You continue climbing the mountainside obliquely until you come to the stone gate built by lamas which marks your entry into Tyangboche (3860m). Stay overnight at Hotel

Day 7: Trek from Tyangboche to Dingboche (4260m.) this will take approximately 5 hours.

Dingboche is a striking patchwork of well refined lush green fields enclosed by stone walls defensive the crops of barley, buckwheat and potatoes from the cold winds and grazing animals. Stay overnight at Hotel

Day 8: Dingboche Acclimatization day.

Additional day to dingboche. Today, we will spend our whole day being close and familiar to the dingboche. Overnight stay at Hotel

Day 9: Trek from Dingboche to lobuche (4950m.) which takes about 5 hours.

Shortly, after breakfast the trail starts with a climb to dughla through the khumbu khola valley. During the walk you can enjoy the Chola Lake and a majestic view of Mt. Pumori which disappears as the trail ascends to dughla. You can also spot other great peaks like khumbutse, lingten, pumori and mahalangur himal. On leaving khumbu glacier behind the train gently climbs up to the lobuche. Overnight stay at Hotel

Day 10: Trek from lobuche to Gorakshep – Everest Base Camp (5,364 m) then return to Gorakshep (5170m.) 7 -8 hours.

The trail continues to climb to Gorakshep; again we will continue to climb up to Everest base camp. A steep climb up to the top through the torrent of changri glacier gives you a glimpse of kala pattar. Walking through rocky and glacial trails finally leads to the Everest base camp. After reaching Everest Base Camp we will return to Gorakshep, overnight stay at Hotel

Day 11: Ascend to Kalapathar (5,550m) & return to lukla (2804) by Helicopter.

After some early morning tea/coffee, we climb to Kalapathar (5545m.) and enjoy a spectacular sunrise view. From Kalapatthar you can have a panoramic view of Mt. Everest and many other mountain peaks that include a host of famous ones: Mt. Pumori, Mt. Lingtren, Mt. Khumbetse, Mt. Nuptse, and Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku and many more huge peaks. Then we will catch a flight to lukla, overnight stay at Hotel

Day 12: Fly to Kathmandu.

After an early breakfast, hoping for good weather, we board our 35 minutes flight for Kathmandu. We offer farewell to these wonderful mountains that protected us all of these days as our journey in Nepal concludes today on a happy note. Overnight stay at Hotel
